Trail run, hike
Earn a dazzling ocean view.
Where: Topanga State Park, Topanga. Take Entrada Road from Topanga Canyon Boulevard to "Trippet Ranch", the headquarters for Topanga State Park.
Level of difficulty: A slice above a simple walk. This is a fun one if you want to bring along any energetic pre-teens.
Route Covers: Portion of Topanga State Park
Mileage: 4.0 miles roundtrip
The Route:
- Walk north from the parking lot to the Musch Trail.
- Take the Musch Trail through the campground located at property which was formerly the Musch Ranch. Get ready for a more strenuous ascent.
- Head upwards on a crooked climb to the ridgetop fireroad at Eagle Junction.
- Turn left on Eagle Springs Fire Road and follow it up to enjoy the view, then walk back, passing Eagle Junction.
- Instead of taking Musch Trail the way you came, take the Eagle Springs Fire Road which runs south west for 1.1. miles, till you see a narrow trail.
- Take a right onto the narrow trail back to Tippet Ranch.
