Trail run, hike

Earn a dazzling ocean view.

Where: Topanga State Park, Topanga. Take Entrada Road from Topanga Canyon Boulevard to "Trippet Ranch", the headquarters for Topanga State Park.

Level of difficulty: A slice above a simple walk. This is a fun one if you want to bring along any energetic pre-teens.

Route Covers: Portion of Topanga State Park

Mileage: 4.0 miles roundtrip

The Route:

  1. Walk north from the parking lot to the Musch Trail.
  2. Take the Musch Trail through the campground located at property which was formerly the Musch Ranch. Get ready for a more strenuous ascent.
  3. Head upwards on a crooked climb to the ridgetop fireroad at Eagle Junction.
  4. Turn left on Eagle Springs Fire Road and follow it up to enjoy the view, then walk back, passing Eagle Junction.
  5. Instead of taking Musch Trail the way you came, take the Eagle Springs Fire Road which runs south west for 1.1. miles, till you see a narrow trail.
  6. Take a right onto the narrow trail back to Tippet Ranch.
